This NEW Annals of WAS History page will contain a collection of

historical and scholarly documents representing the various

disciplines recognized by the World Acrobatics Society.

We are pleased to announce the first addition to this page is the impressive and detailed article, A History of United States Artistic Gymnastics, by Abie Grossfeld.

 A true legend, Abie Grossfeld includes being an Olympic gymnast, Olympic coach and respected author among his many outstanding accomplishments.

Abie is on the WAS Board of Directors and serves as WAS Historian. He was inducted as a WAS Legend in 2001.

"A History of United States Artistic Gymnastics," covers the development and accomplishments of U.S. gymnastics through the years, starting with the organizations and the individual pioneers who introduced and helped spread gymnastics across the U.S. The contributions, to U.S. gymnastics, of the various organizations – Turnvereins, Sokols, YMCAs, athletic clubs, colleges, and high schools - are explained. In addition are the roles that the NCAA and AAU had in U.S. gymnastics development.
